Eligibility
Who might be eligible for this visa?
- The child must meet the following criteria in order to obtain this visa:
- Sponsored by their parent(s) or parent(spartner(s) )’s
- Single
- If you’re under the age of eighteen, or if you’re:
- A full-time student between the ages of 18 and 25, or
- 18 years of age or older, unable to work owing to a disability, and financially reliant on the sponsoring parent.
This application can cover the child’s own dependent children.
The parent who is sponsoring
The child’s sponsoring parent must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or a citizen of New Zealand who meets the criteria. The child’s parent’s spouse or de facto partner can also sponsor the child.
Relationship between the sponsor and the child
The child must be able to:
- The supporting parent’s biological kid or adopted child
- A stepchild under the age of 18 who lives with a stepparent who is no longer the kid’s parent’s partner but has legal responsibility for the child.
Adopted children must have been adopted before their parents became Australian citizens, permanent residents in Australia, or eligible New Zealand citizens.
In the child’s best interests
If it is in the best interests of a child under the age of 18, this visa will likely not be granted.
Age
The child must be under the age of 25, but if 18 or older, they must be enrolled full-time in school and financially dependent on their sponsoring parent. The age limit and full-time student requirement are only waived if the child has a disability that prevents them from working.
Health
Certain health requirements must be met by the youngster. The outcomes are usually good for a year. This also applies to any family members who are included in your application, whether or not they are relocating.
Character
A child must meet specific character requirements if he or she is over the age of 16. They must be able to show a police certificate from any nation where they lived for 12 months or longer in the previous ten years after turning 16. Do not obtain police certificates until we request them.

A Child visa (subclass 101) allows a qualified parent to sponsor their child’s indefinite stay in Australia. A parent may apply on behalf of a kid under the age of eighteen.
A parent who qualifies is:
- a citizen of Australia
- a permanent residence visa holder in Australia
- a permanent residence visa holder in Australia
- a citizen of New Zealand who qualifies
What the youngster is capable of
It allows the child to:
- travel to and stay in Australia indefinitely
- work and study in Australia
- enrol in Medicare, Australia’s scheme for health-related care and expenses
- apply for Australian citizenship (if they are eligible)
- sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
- travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted – after that time they will need another visa to enter Australia.
It gives the youngster the ability to:
- Indefinite travel to and stay in Australia
- In Australia, you can work and study.
- Enroll in Medicare, Australia’s health-care and expense-reimbursement program.

Who is eligible to sponsor a child?
To sponsor a kid for this visa, you must meet the following criteria:
- the child’s parent (or their partner) or step-parent
- older than the age of eighteen
- You must also be one of the following:
- a citizen of Australia
- a permanent residence visa holder in Australia
- a citizen of New Zealand who qualifies
- If you are one of the following people, you can sponsor a child:
- a step-parent who is no longer the child’s parent’s partner but who has a legal responsibility to care for the child and who is under the age of 18
- an eligible New Zealand citizen, an adoptive parent who adopted the kid before you became an Australian citizen, or an Australian permanent residence visa holder.
- It is not necessary for you to be in Australia at the time of your application. If you meet the following criteria, you can still be a sponsored parent:
- You have previously visited Australia but are currently outside the country when you submit your application.
- You’ve been given an Australian permanent residence visa, but you haven’t yet arrived in the country.
- You may be entitled to apply for an Adoption visa if your child was adopted after you became an Australian citizen, a holder of an Australian permanent residence visa, or an
Adoption visa (subclass 102).
Parental Responsibility:
- This visa can only be granted if you can present one of the following documents for a child under the age of 18:
- You have the written permission of everyone who has the legal authority to decide where the child resides.
- The child’s native country’s laws allow for his or her removal.
- It is in line with any child order in Australia.

Character
