SPONSORSHIP PERIOD OF VALIDITY | Sponsorship permission is usually valid for 5 years after it is acquired. There are, however, a few exceptions to this rule:

LIMITATION ON NUMBER OF SPONSORED EMPLOYEES | Employers must identify how many employees they would sponsor during the sponsorship’s validity beginning in July 2018. The planned number of employees must be justified, and the Department of Home Affairs has the authority to stipulate a lower number of sponsorships if it believes it is necessary. Once the maximum has been reached, the employer must apply for a sponsorship variation in order to sponsor more employees. |
Business ventures outside of Australia
You must be looking for a skilled individual to do one of the following:
- develop, or assist in the establishment, of a company activity in Australia.
- fulfill contract commitments in Australia.
You are not needed to complete the training requirement if your company does not yet have an operating base in Australia.
