PREMIUM INVESTOR SUBCLASS 188D VISAS

188D Premium Investor (PIV) Stream 

  Only applicants who have been nominated by Aus trade are eligible for this visa. 

This is a four-year temporary visa for persons who intend to invest at least AUD 15 million in Australia’s complying investments. The candidate can apply for permanent residence through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa after making a one-year investment in Australia. 

To apply for this visa, the applicants can be in Australia or abroad. 

If the applicant is currently residing in Australia, they must have a Substantive Visa or a Bridging A, B, or C visa. 

General Requirements:  Prior to receiving the visa, applicants must invest at least AUD 15 million in a “premium investment.” For the purposes of the Premium Investor Visa, a “premium investment” is defined as: 

  • Assets listed on the Australian Securities Exchange 
  • Bonds or notes issued by the Australian government or semi-government 
  • Corporate bonds or notes issued by an Australian exchange-listed firm (or a wholly-owned subsidiary of an Australian exchange-listed organization) or investment-grade rated Australian corporate bonds or notes rated by an AFS licensed debt rating agency 
  • proprietary limited Australian companies  
  • Residential property is not included in the definition of real estate in Australia. 
  • Australian-registered life companies offer deferred annuities. 
  • philanthropic contribution accepted by the state or territory government 
Advantages:  -There are no residency requirements. 

– A 12-month fast-track to permanent residency is available.
