The Student Visa (Subclass 500) is designed for international students who want to study full-time at an Australian educational institution. This visa allows students to enroll in primary, secondary, vocational, higher education, postgraduate, and English language courses (ELICOS). It also permits limited work rights, generally 48 hours per fortnight during study periods and unlimited hours during scheduled breaks To be eligible, applicants must meet Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements, show proof of sufficient funds, meet English language proficiency standards, and hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Dependents can accompany the student under certain conditions. The Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590) is for parents, legal guardians, or close relatives who wish to accompany and support a Student Visa (Subclass 500) holder who is under 18 years old (or older in special cases). This visa allows the guardian to stay in Australia for the same duration as the student’s visa, providing financial, accommodation, and welfare support. Applicants must prove they have sufficient financial capacity, maintain adequate health insurance, and not work while holding this visa. This visa ensures that younger students receive the necessary care and supervision while studying in Australia.
