Victoria has just announced its 2025/26 skilled visa nomination allocations. The numbers are the lowest we’ve seen in years.Only 200 places for the Subclass 190 visa and 180 places for the Subclass 491 visa have been allocated for this year.

That means just 380 total spots across the entire state, making competition tougher than ever.

If you submitted a Registration of Interest (ROI) last program year (2024/25), your ROI is still valid. You don’t need to submit a new one unless your details have changed.

Changes that require an update include:

  • Job role or occupation
  • Employer details
  • Salary information

Failing to keep your ROI accurate may reduce your chances of selection.

With such a limited allocation, every detail in your Expression of Interest (EOI) and ROI must be correct and up to date.

The Subclass 190 visa gives permanent residency for skilled workers nominated by Victoria. The Subclass 491 visa allows provisional residency in regional Victoria, with a pathway to PR later.

What You Should Do Now

  • Review your ROI and update if anything has changed.
  • Double-check your English test validity and skill assessment.
  • Keep your documents ready, including payslips, degrees, and references.

This year’s small allocation means invitations will move fast, and only well-prepared candidates will succeed.
